"What on earth did we do before CCLI?!? I’ll tell you, we put worship and copyright in the too hard basket. We tried to pretend that it didn’t matter that we were breaking the law in the way we used songs, and we somehow argued that all Christian songs were given by God and therefore should be free to His body… How enormously thankful I am to CCLI, as the body of Christ continues to expand and “true worship” spreads all over the earth."

How do we know which songs are most popular?

Tuesday September 18, 2007

Unrated: (0)

Most of the information about song usage which CCLI gathers relates to song reproductions, rather than the number of times a song is sung. Also, because that information is only obtained while processing the songs reported, we can only come up with a new list every 6 months (see Royalty Process for more details of our processing cycle).

We do provide on the web site the Top 25 songs reported for the Church Copyright Licence. In SongSelect we also provide:

* The Top 100 songs reported for the Church Copyright Licence (updated every 6 months)
* The Top 25 lyrics accessed
* The Top 25 lead sheets downloaded
* The Top 25 hymn sheets downloaded
* The Top 25 chord charts accessed

We can make available, at your request, individual lists for Australia and New Zealand showing the Top 500 Songs reported for the current and other Survey Periods. There is a processing fee for each list. For more information or to purchase the lists please contact the copyright department.
